Some one asked me that why the generated file can't open a defined website after playback. Here is a flash video for sample.

If you can't get the url redirect to your webpage, it must be:
1) You are using a pop-up window blocker. You must disable it when you test the file.
2) You are using the external flv file mode. This mode works when the file is on the server, you must upload the swf file(player) and the flv file(content) to the server together in the same directory. Then you could play them.
Tips:
"_self" stands for "open in the same window"
"_blank" stands for "open in a new window"

Via John, seams that Adobe has shown Flash Lite 3 playing back Flash Video at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. Sounds things are moving pretty quickly for Flash Lite.

There are often some good background music while you are watching youtube or other flash video, it is really a pity that you can't save this music to your pc or some device else. Here is a solution about this, we take Microsoft Sound Recorder (sndrec32.exe) into advantage, with it, we can record any audio we want as long as it could be played on your PC. No other software used!

Now:
1. Open your sound recorder, click as Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> entertainment -> Sound Recorder
2. Click on File -> properties, Choose Recording Formats then click Convert Now...

3. In the Sound Selection window, select the attributes like this (the best quality), then press OK.

4. Then click start -> control panel - sounds and audio devices,

Click Advanced to open the Sound Control window, then click options -> properties choose record mode and make the “Stereo Mix” and “Line in” Selected and press OK.

5.Then make the check box under Stereo Mix selected.

And now open the youtube video to record the background music with the recorder.

You can convert video to flv with an external flash flv player now. It means that you can play your flash video any where now as long as it supports flash.
In the player templates table, you could choose a player that you like best. And you can also choose to embeded your flash video in swf(flash file) or link to an external flv. You can add a customized link by click the advanced button, like this:

There are two ways, you can choose either or both. and you can also put an watermark on the flash video. Either image or text will be ok.

You can also customize the preloader in the preloader lable

You just need to upload the two file(or only one if you choose embeded flv in swf) to server, remember to put them in the same directory. Keep in mind that do not change the file name of the flv file. Then embeded the flash file to the webpage, you can watch your flv through this swf file.

As a matter of fact,it is really a cup of tea. You just need to press "print screen" and paste it in some software just like "MS Paint" or "Photoshop". But you may say: I've tried that and it doesn't work. I got a black image. Let me explain:
cuz the pc uses the hardware acceleration.You just need to disable it. You can find it here:
Control pannel -> Dispaly -> Settings -> Advanced -> Troubleshot, You can find a slidebar named hardware acceleration. Drag it from full to none. Then press OK, you can have a try now.
if it can't work this way either, then it is something about your player. Take Windows Media Player as example:

Embeded Flash Video on Youtube

Embedding YouTube videos into blogs is all very well, but their flv video player sucks. You can't customize it and your stuck with their 'YouTube' branding. I recently came across a little known freeware application entitled YouRipper which changes all that. YouRipper is basically a YouTube video ripper and downloader and while there is nothing new there, the authors dropped an Embed Video feature into the latest version. So now, using a freeware flv video player YouRipper will churn out the HTML or Javascript which can then be pasted into a blog or webpage. A bit like this....

The publishers of YouRipper even host the Flash even host the the flash flv player, so if the end-user does not have hosting available, they can use the player from their site.

The whole process of embedding a video using YouRipper takes less than two minutes and here's how I did it....

The above toolbar sits on the web browser title-bar (it works with most browsers). When you come across a video you want to embed, just copy the URL of the YouTube page (eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ULVQOneeZE ) into the URL Box on the toolbar.

To obtain the actual location of the flv file simply click on the File Properties Button

It takes a few seconds to obtain this information and then the File Properties are displayed (below)

Next, clicking on the 'Get Script' button will open a window prompting you to enter the type of scripting you want to create (below)

You will notice from the above image that you can also create Playlists which is really cool, but for now I am going to create a Single Video Player.

After clicking on the 'Continue' button, you will be presented with the flv Player Configuration window (below)

As you can see, it is easy to set the size, colors and other settings for the flv video player. Adding a Link to the player means that page will be loaded into a new browser window, if the end-user clicks on the video screen. And adding an Image URL sets the picture to show when the video is not playing.

Once your settings are in place, you will notice that it is possible to Generate both Javascript and HTML. For most blogs and MySpace pages, you will need to select 'Generate HTML' (below)

Clicking on the Copy button will transfer the HTML code onto your Clipboard, ready for you to Paste into your blog.....THAT'S IT!

It looks like the same discussion with Chris Stephenson that yielded that 2007 European Zune launch figure also gave up a few more details about the Zune line: apparently we can expect a flash-based Zune for the holiday season later this year (damn they're taking their dear sweet time on that) and apparently Stephenson also hinted at "a truly WiFi-enabled device" at some point in the future, according to Digital Music News. We don't really know what that means, but if it is what we think it is -- a version of the Zune that does all the things with its WiFi that the first version should have, like support over-the-air downloads and unencumbered sharing of subscription music -- then we might have to throw a little fit up in this piece. Zune peeps, we know you're reading this: upgrade the firmware and add the features, don't try to sell us a v2 device that does what the V1 device can and should. That is all.

This tutorial will help you build an FLV player by yourself, only actionscript, no FLV playback component. And then, open your Flash 8.

Fisrt, create a new flash document and set the background color as black(#000000), and set he other option as default. Create four layer.

Layer 1: it is used to place the symbol.
1. Select 'New Video' from the pop-up menu of library panel,(press Ctrl+L for library panel).
2. Select 'Video(ActionScript-Controlled)' and name it in the pop-up Video properties dialog.
3. Drag the video that you created to the stage (It is where your flv will appears)

Corrupt Flash Player install after IE 7 upgrade

Some of people shot me an e-mail about this. They said their youtube works find until they update the Internet Explorer, so I wanted to post some info about it to resolve this.
It generally goes like this:
A user has Flash Player 9 installed on their system and everything works fine with IE6. The user then runs the IE7 update and their computer stops showing YouTube or Yahoo video and so on. However, if the user goes to some other sites with Flash content, the content will play just fine, even if the site requires the Flash 9 Player.
Dunno how it happened, cuz I use firefox, I suppose that when you upgrade from IE7, the browser install is not correctly reinstalling your existing Flash Plugin, so scripts that check for the Flash Player are failing, but since the plugin file is there, if you visit a site that does not use a detection script you will see the Flash content just fine.
There may not be a solution to this for the sites using detection scripts - they rely on a series of Windows registry entries that seem to be missing after an IE7 upgrade.
For users, here is a fix that seems to work well:
1. Quit all open programs. This step is important because other programs may be using the Flash Player, and if they are, the uninstaller will fail silently.
2. Run the Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller.
3. Reinstall your Flash player.
Maybe you should restart your computer after this, you know,sometimes a system restart can make a difference.

Flash Video Streaming and Open Source Tools

Have you ever been jealous of Youtube? Do you want to build a website like youtube? Make a video blog(Vlog) using FLash Video technology? Now here is a tutorial for you, it will show you how to do and what to do.

Flash has always been developed and used for multimedia purposes, but until version 6 the possibilities for audio streaming were limited and also there was no video support. With Version 6 and 7 Macromedia introduced video support and a new file format to support various ways of streaming. This article covers only a streaming variant called "progressive download" which does not need server support. True streaming support is available with Macromedia's non-free Flash Communication Server (FCS).

FLV Streams (Flash Video Streams)

Streaming is build upon a new file format called FLV, which separates the streamable content and the flash movie. The result is a very compact flash movie acting as a multimedia player and a storage for streamable content from which the flash movie loads a stream on demand. A single FLV stream contains at most one audio stream and at most one video stream. Flash supports uncompressed sound and various compressed formats like MP3 and ADPCM as well as the proprietary Nellymoser audio codec. With flash version 6 Macromedia also introduced video support for flash. In version 6 only the Sorenson H.263 video codec was supported which is a slightly modified version of the open H.263 standard. The latest flash version 7 introduced a second video format "Screen Video", which is a simple, loss less video format, especially developed for screen capturing.

Converting and Creating Content

One method for creating FLV streams is converting existing audio and video content with FFmpeg [ffmpeg.sourceforge.net]. FFmpeg is a mature and very excellent software project for converting audio and video from and to various formats. Converting a video can be simply done with ffmpeg -i infile.[avi|mpeg] stream.flv
FFmpeg uses the Sorenson H.263 video format for encoding video data. There is no support for the Screen Video format at this time. While the Screen Video format is mainly useful for screen capturing applications, Sorensons H.263 is multipurpose video codec with good compression rates, suitable especially for encoding motion pictures. Another project dealing with FLV streams is called libflv [libflv.sourceforge.net]. While FFmpeg is a general audio and video converting suite, libflv is focused on working with FLV streams. The project is still in a very early stage, but is able encoding videos in the Screen Video format and allows simple FLV stream manipulations like (de-)multiplexing of audio and video streams. A simple GTK-based screen capturing application can be found in the example directory.

Building a Simple Multimedia Player

After having created some streamable content, a flash multimedia player is needed. One huge advantage of flash based players over other plug-in based multimedia-players is that there are no constraints about its look and how it is integrated in your sites design. MING is an open source library which is able to create flash files with almost all recent flash features, including Action Script, sound and video support. The library also has language bindings for a bunch of script and programming languages. The examples presented in this article are written in PHP4. Porting the examples to other supported languages like C/C++, Java, Python or Perl should be trivial.
To run the following example a current CVS snapshot of MING is needed. It is available either via Sourceforges anonymous CVS service or pre-packaged at klaus.geekserver.net/ming/.

First we create a new move instance and set dimension and background color:

The new flash move can now be filled with flash objects called characters. For the multimedia player example we create a video canvas object and add it to the movie. The add() method takes a character and inserts it to the current frame and returns a handle to the object. This can be used to move, rotate, resize or remove an object. If the object is going to be used with ActionScript, a name can be assigned to it.

The SWFVideoStream() constructor can also take a FLV file as argument. In this case the video stream will be embedded to the flash file. However this approach has some drawbacks. First of all the resulting flash movie will get as least as big as the stream. But also the stream's frame rate must not exceed the flash movies frame rate and each flash file is limited to 16000 frames, which means that the embedded stream can contain at most 16000 frames.

A multimedia player application should be able to load and play streams dynamically. Therefore the SWFVideoStream() constructor is called with no arguments. Thus only an empty video canvas will be created, which will be controlled by the following ActionScript code:

The ActionScript first creates a pseudo connection by passing null to the connect() method of the NetConnection object. In contrast, a real connection to a Macromedia streaming server can be made by passing a valid url to the method. Having a NetConnection instance a new NetStream object can be created and attached to the empty video canvas. This object handles streaming and provides methods for controlling the stream. The above example loads a FLV stream from the local web server with a downloadbuffer of 10 seconds. The ActionScript code can be compiled and added to the movie with:

Until now the flash movie just loads and plays a certain FLV stream. To control its behavior, a simple user interface consisting of some buttons and a seek-slider is missing. Flash has its own compressed loss less bitmap format called DBL. MING provides a small utility png2dbl to convert PNG images to DBL. Such images are used for the player's control buttons:

The above example creates a pause button for the multimedia player. An interactive button is created in two steps. First its look has to be defined by adding shapes for certain mouse events. In flash a shape is the basic representation for graphic objects. For each mouse event a different shape object can be assigned to the button. In the above example the button looks always the same.
In the second step the buttons action can be defined by assigning ActionScript to a special event.

One drawback using progressive download streaming without server support is that there is no possibility to get the stream's total length. Therefore the seek-sliders functionality is limited to seeking within the already loaded parts of the stream.

The dragable part of the seek-slider is realized as a movie-clip object. A movie-clip is running as an independent movie in the flash movie. It has an independent time line, can handles scripts and handles external events itself.

A movie clip (SWFSprite) has similar methods like a movie object. The add() method inserts a flash object to the current frame, nextFrame() finishes the current frame and creates a new one. The movie clip is also a normal flash object which can be added to a movie and placed on the stage. The functionality of the seek-slider is defined by three small scripts. The first two actions make the movie-clip dragable:

The third more lengthy script sets the stream position depending on sliders x-position if the slider is actually moved by the user or sets the sliders x-position depending on the streams current time:

This script is assigned to the $slider-handle with the SWFACTION_ENTERFRAME event. After having added all elements to the flash movie the first frame has to be closed with the nextFrame() call. Since we don not need another frame the movie can also be finished:

Conclusion

With flash it is easy to create a lightweight, fully customized, embedded video and audio player. There are powerful open source tools available for creating content and also creating flash movies. This article introduced the basic concepts of flash streaming and working with MING. The here presented mediaplayer provides only the most basic features and was only intended as a simple example. It can be extended in many ways, which is left to the reader.

Flash to jump beyond the browser

Adobe Systems is working on software meant to blur the line between the Web and desktop PCs.
The company is working on a project code-named Apollo, which will let applications written for Adobe's Flash presentation software run without a Web browser, said Kevin Lynch, chief software architect and senior vice president of Adobe's platform business unit.
The goal of Apollo, which will be available as a free download early next year, is to overcome some of the limitations in today's Web applications, Lynch said. Right now, Flash programs run within a Web browser. Apollo is client-based software that will run Flash applications separately from a browser, whether online or offline, he said.

Competition is heating up among companies seeking to be the preferred supplier of tools and software to run a new generation of Web applications, which feature an interactive user interface and take advantage of broadband networks.

Microsoft and Java specialists are also building slicker Web development tools. But Adobe remains the incumbent when it comes to front-end design, said Peter O'Kelly, an analyst at the Burton Group.

"Everyone is rushing in the same direction, which is to reduce the barriers between a Web page, an application and multimedia content," O'Kelly said. "(But) for a lot of people, the de facto most widely deployed Internet client is from Adobe."

Apollo is designed to give developers a way to create applications that can render Flash animations as well as HTML and Acrobat files (PDF). That approach preserves the benefits of the Web but allows room for programs that can't be included now, Lynch said.

Web-native applications, such as Web e-mail, can run on different operating systems but generally don't work when the user is disconnected from the Internet. Apollo will seek to bridge that gap, he said.

"As people start using Web applications more, and they become part of your daily life, they should be first-class citizens on your computer," Lynch said.

Apollo programs will function when a person is offline and automatically update data when the user gets back online. For example, a person could book an airline ticket from a handheld or laptop offline; when the person reconnects to a network, the software will complete the transaction.

In addition, Apollo applications will behave like other desktop programs: They will have a separate icon for launching the program and appear in operating system utilities, like the "Add or Remove Programs" feature in Microsoft Windows, Lynch said.

An early version of the Apollo software is expected to be made available to developers on the Adobe Labs site later this year. Programmers can write applications to run in Apollo using Adobe's current line of tools.

At the very beginning, let’s have a talk about the Flash Video. A number of people who was not familiar with flash video asked me why we must use flash video. Yeah, why?
As we know, the common video file is *.wmv or *.asf format that played by windows media player and *.rm format played by realplayer. The question is, we have to install different player for different format. Some local users that don’t have relevant player are not able to watch these videos at all. And also, it is very slow to download these big-size files, it will be quite unpleasant to watch them online.
So, we use flash to convert video to flash to solve the two problems.
At player aspect, flash player is embedded to most of the internet explorer. It seems that more than 95% explorer can support flash. It’s the advantage of flash that it can solve the ‘player problem’
At size aspect, Macromedia Flash (version after Flashmx2004) can convert video to flash video, following a series of sets, and the size of the original file will be reduced, the extension of final file is .flv.
In one word, the final file we get is the just flash video.
Then how will the flv file be displayed in webpage? There are several methods to get it.
1. Import flv file to flash as a lib file, drag this element to the stage and adjust it to the suitable position, publish it as a *.swf file. It’s OK. But attention, this file only run correctly at local, once it is uploaded to the server, the others can’t watch it. What happened? Yeah, you’re right. Cuz the *.swf file is linked with a local flv file, that‘s why others can’t watch your flash. So, what we need only is to fix the correct path of the flv file. Transfer the file to a web server to get a solid url, Run Macromedia Flash, press alt+F7 to open the component inspector, change the url in content path to the absolute url of the file, then export the file to a swf file. This file could be used anywhere. Of course, there is also a swf file related to the flash player. Upload the file along with your swf file to the webserver.
2. Did you find it is so trouble to follow the first method? We are now trying to insert a flash into a webpage only, but we have to make a flash instead first and then we can insert the flash into the webpage.
Like we insert a flash button to a webpage, we should make the flash button first and then insert it to the page. But in fact, Dreamweaver provides a convenient way to insert flash button directly. It is meant that you don’t need to make the flash button instead of getting it through Dreamweaver.
So, as the same, Dreamweaver 8 provides a function: insert flash video. You needn’t to make the flash video, what you need is only a flash video file, this is the point.
Choose InsertMediaFlash video; input the url of your flv file in the pop-up window, select the skin and set the option, OK, then we get four files. One of them is skin file, one is player file. The other two is page file and flv file.Upload them together. Is this easy?

The difference among .swf .fla and .flv

If you want to upload flash video to website, maybe you should know what the difference among .swf .fla and .flv are first.

.fla is to .swf as .psd is to .jpg.
The .fla file is the original huge working document that you make when you make a flash animation. Ie: open Flash the program, start a new document, do a bunch of stuff, save it. Then later you can open the flash document -- saved in the .fla format and change things, keep working, etc. Once you are ready to post to the web, you export a flash movie, and create a .swf file. The .swf file is much smaller, more efficient / compressed, etc. If for some reason you erased the original .fla, and then wanted to make changes to the move, you'd be stuck. You cannot open the .swf file that's been exported and make and changes to the original -- you need the .fla file. There's nothing to do with a .fla file on the web. It's just for working.

To browse the .swf linked in a webpage, you must wait for downloading the entire content to the temp folder, then view the flash. The benefit is that you just need to install a flash player and you can view it. .flv is flash video file. It can be played in html (don't know if they'll play just linked to directly). It can be streamed, as the download-while-playing media. The problem with the .flv by itself is that it doesn't really have a controller and must have to play with a .flv player. You can right-click on the video and stop or rewind it.

How to import sound to your flash movie.

Flash allows you to import sound files into the Library and use them at different places in your Flash movie. You can import sound files in WAV and MP3 format via the File -> Import command. Once you've imported a sound file into your Flash movie, it will show up in the Library.

Adding a sound file to your Flash movie is simplicity itself - create a new layer, select the frame where you would like the sound to begin playing, and drag the sound file from the Library on to the Stage. A graphical representation of the waveform will appear in the Timeline.

Flash allows you to add as many sound files as you like to Flash movie; keep in mind, however, that all these sound files are mixed together when the final movie is played back. It's also a good idea to place each sound file on a separate layer, so that you can easily manipulate the various files in a movie.

You can control attributes of the sound clip, or add effects to it via the Window -> Panels -> Sound panel. With the frame containing the sound clip selected, pop open this panel and take a look at the options available.

The most important of the various options available is the Sync option - it allows you to specify whether the sound file is synchronized with the rest of the animation or not. To synchronize the sound clip with the different frames of the animation, choose the Stream option. Streamed sounds begin playing while they are downloading, and automatically stop at the end of the movie.

If, instead, you'd prefer your sound clip to play throughout the movie independent of the animation, select the Event option. In this case, the sound clip plays independent of the frames in the Timeline, and may continue even after the movie ends. The Event option is most commonly used to link sounds to a Flash event, such as clicking a button.

If you'd like the sound clip to play more than once, you can enter a number into the Loop field, and you can also add sound effects like fades and channel shifts using the Effects drop-down menu.

Finally, you can stop the sound at a specific point by inserting a keyframe at that point in the sound layer, and selecting Stop from the Sync menu option for that keyframe.
